He has worked solely with the pen and ink medium for 36 years, in that time Dean has worked as an artist in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales. The range of subjects that Dean’s artwork portfolio covers, includes: Private homes, public buildings, industrial and rural buildings. Heritage sites and antique vehicles. Motorcycles, trucks, planes, boats, machinery and tools. In fact the only limit is Dean’s simple philosophy that - “If it breathes he won’t sketch it”. Therefore sorry but no portraits of people or animals. Dean predominantly uses an ink mixture in the sepia to brown range and has become a trademark of his style. Dean uses technical drafting pens to sketch with, the smallest size 0.13mm the largest 0.7mm. Using such fine tools allows Dean to give high technical detail.
