Cliff Top Walk & Art Trail
Description
This is a free experience.
A 1.8km one way (approx 3.2km, 1hr return) clifftop walk with stunning views of the Murray and surrounds.
It's an easy walk, with undulating terrain and steps.
The walk starts from central Waikerie, it stretches eastwards from the Waikerie ferry through the pumping station grounds to the lookout, and then along the picturesque clifftop following the former Cliff Top Track which was used from 1894 by settlers to walk between the settlements of Holder and Waikerie.
The height of the cliffs gives a fantastic view over the River Murray and the meandering floodplain. Flood activity is evident in a complex of terraces, hollows, wetlands, billabongs, backwaters and anabranches.
Recently completed artworks including a kookaburra mural, and metal sculptures are highlights as you walk along the trail. Make sure to take a selfie with ‘Murray’ with the Silo Art as a backdrop in the selfie chair.
Great walk.
