Budj Bim Cultural Landscape Tourism
Description
Budj Bim Cultural Landscape Tourism offers visitors a guided cultural experience of southwestern Victoria’s
Gunditjmara Country. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list for its
outstanding universal values, the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape features ancient
aquaculture systems which were first constructed at least 6,600 ago. The region
is renowned for its age-old lava flows and life-filled waterways, and the
remains of over 300 Aboriginal stone houses. On Gunditjmara guided cultural
tours, discover a vibrant Indigenous culture through shared stories and see the
landscape through Gunditjmara eyes. Explore significant and ancient sites and
discover the region’s heritage along raised boardwalks designed to highlight
and preserve the precious natural environment.
And for a truly unique culinary experience, dine at the state-of
-the-art Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre & Café. The menu features local produce
infused with native seasonings, and the Gunditjmara chef introduces kooyang
(eel) to diners in the most creative and delicious way.
