Margaret River Surfing Academy is the only surf school in Western Australia that combines professional surf coaching with evidence-based corporate and wellbeing programs. Led by big-wave surfer and registered paramedic Simon Tien, we deliver safe, transformative experiences for individuals, schools, and corporate groups. We specialise in teaching surfing in the southwest. First established surf school in the area, we pride ourselves on professionally coaching thousands of school kids from Broome to Margaret River and helping surfers of all levels to advance their ability and confidence in the water for the last 30 years. Come and see us for individual, private, group or corporate events. Our new programme Brain Waves is a journey into building strength in mental health. Our weekend program consists of 1 surf lesson daily and mental health training for 3 hours each day. Wetsuits and surfboards are provided, all you need to bring is swimmers, sunscreen, and a water bottle! The facilitator and creator, Simon Tien, is fuelled by a passion for education. His working career with an array of experience, from surfing coaching, youth work, the WA mining industry, floatation therapy and a Bachelor of Science degree and Postgraduate in Mental Health, has paved the development of his program. An accomplished surfer, passionate teacher, and forever optimist join us to gain some life skills that will enrich your wellbeing and help you on your journey. As per regulations, all of our surf coaches are trained in First Aid and hold certificates in either Surf Search & Rescue or Bronze Medallion registered through Surf Life Saving Australia.
